Sassafras root for tea. To make break up 1 root and add to a pot. Pour over 2 quarts of water and bring to a boil. Immediately reduce heat to a low simmer for 20 minutes. When water turns pink and has oil on top it is ready. Enjoy cold or hot. Store tea in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. Dried for long term storage.Sassafras is used in folks medicine in the Appalachian Mountains as a spring tonic, to reduce fever, and as a parasitic cleanse for the body.
